Irakere:
Bacalao Con Pane

It’s the mid 70s. The cuban band led by pianist Jesus Chucho Valdès plays this deep “salsoul” tune mixed with a bunch of bata drums. This track, recorded live just after the foundation of Irakere – supposedly a yoruba word meaning “forrest” -, sounds like an anthem for this type of experimental crossover and represents the best answer from La Havane to the nuevayorquinos.

Bar-Kays – You can’t run away
One of their nicest 80s songs with some hints of Milton Wright’s best melodies. Classic!
